My name is Cherie Hyatt, Nicole Polston's mother. We live in Houston, close to Scott and Nicole. I'm part of Kaye Polston's bible study group and we prayed for your family earnestly. I came to know your father's wonderful humor from the emails that Kaye forwarded us. I cried when I read about Carl's death last week. It hurts to lose those we love so deeply. I prayed for a miracle for your father but the real miracle is that he's w. Christ now and the suffering has ended. You were wonderful to be with your Day the entire time traveling away from your home & jobs. Keep the faith, Cherie

What a wonderful tribute to your Dad! I am sure he is smiling even MORE now, and sharing his best one-liners with the Lord. During the time I worked at ARAMARK and your Dad was Regional VP, he was my absolute favorite person! Always kind, considerate and ever so funny. It was a privelege to have known him. Your Dad's legacy, Cary, is such a beautiful, loving family and the trust in God he instilled in each of you. It is certain he fulfilled God's greatest purpose for him here. You will all draw strength in that and in the certain hope of joining him someday with our Lord. God Bless, AnnA

This is a wonderful tribute, I now work for TVA and I have to give your dad all the credit in the world to help me get here. He sent the first email and we talked frequently and yes he was a joy each and every time we spoke. His jokes should be written and savored b/c they are priceless. I hope God continues to be with you all and Heaven continue to smile upon you all.

Your Dad is a fine example of how faith and courage go hand in hand. Your e-mails about him and his battle were thoughtful and uplifting. His fabulous sense of humor shines through and teaches us all how to witness through grace no matter what the circumstance. Alicia Arnold

Cary, Carol, and family - Thanks for sharing Carl with all of us. I have never had a golfing partner as good a person as Carl Marsalis. We had some great times together in Timber Trails and all the tournaments we played together. I don't know that we ever won one, but we enjoyed the event as much as anyone. My family will always remember Carl as a good and gentle man. Beautiful website Cary and thanks for making it available to all. Mike Hymbaugh and family

What a great way to honor your dads' memory. I never met hem but I can tell by the comments and the e-mails that he was a good man and a great father. You were blessed to have him in your life and we are blessed by the various testimonies of the people who knew him. There is no doubt in my mind that he is playing golf with Jesus. May God bless you and help you through this sad time. Sandy Shaw from Irving, Texas

Cary and Sally: we are so greatful that you allowed us to be part of the walk you and your entire family took with your Dad and the Lord. It seems that Jesus is often seen more clearly during the trials and suffering we all must go through in this life. Your every email was that Light shining through as you shared your Dad with us. We really felt like we knew Carl through your eloquent writings. What a wonderful Savior your Dad served on earth, and because of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, we all can know that Carl is now serving Jesus face to face in Heaven. We hope to see you both down our way soon. With love and affection, Barry & Kaye Polston, New Braunfels, TX

Dear Carol and family: We have all lost a dear, dear friend. But our loss is the Lord's gain and we can rest assured that we will be able to see Carl once again, no longer suffering. I first became acquainted with Carl in the early 1960s while stationed at Sheppard AFB, Witchita Falls, Tx. I had been accepted into the AF Commissioning program and talked Carl into applying. We ultimately met up again at Colorado State University where Velane and I and others in the program became fast friends with Carl and Carol, and at that time, Cheryl and Carla. My life has been greatly enriched by his humor, his generosity and ultimately his love of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.- Larry and Velane McAllister

Our friendship with Carl and Carol was just a tiny little moment in their lives, but we are blessed to have shared that moment. They came by our home with the McAllisters on their way to an Air Force Reunion in Estes Park Colorado. Carl loved our peach tree, so I sent a quart of peaches and some jam home with them! In turn here came a quart of "special Cajun Sauce" through the mail. Thanks, Cary for including us and for the love and honor you gave you Dad. May God Bless you all. What a wonderful tribute to your Dad. My Mom use to say, "You have to be in a child's life today to be in their memories tomorrow!" Clearly Carl will not only be in his children's memories but the memories of everyone who ever met him, knew him, or those who never met him but had the privilege of being included in following his final journey home. I met Carl & Carol in Guam back in the late 60's, but only knew them for a short time as we (I was married at then to Robert Stillman) returned to the states a few months after their arrival. Carol and I gave a Baby Shower for Velane McAllister, and if memory serves me well, Carol made a darling cake decorated with cake "blocks". I still have a picture of Velane and the cake. Larry and Velane forwarded every email from the time Carl's dianosis until he was called home to his Heavenly Father. I prayed for him, Carol and all the family during that time, and have continued to pray for comfort and strength for all his family and many friends. I know that he, and all who gathered around him during his illness, was a witness to many by letting it be known that God was in control of the situation, and is in everything. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Carol and all of his family. May God continue to richly bless all of you. Love in Christ, Martha Ann Stillman (Memphis, TN)

Sorry about the circumstances involved in your communications. The good servants always seem to go first. The golf comments piqued my interest. I won a few tournaments in my time. What is your family line? Have you read my book SOUTHERN JOURNEYS? It outlines the history of the family in America. I just finished VAN MARSELIS: THE EUROPEAN YEARS. I would be happy to send you copies, if appropriate (no cost). I am trying to reveal the true family history for those interested in future research. Please aknowledge at Tirzah1997@aol.com. Wm. She and I went to Bush Gardens one weekend and the Outer Banks another weekend while I was working in Norfolk. Guess where your dad was? Playing golf of course - 36 holes one day I think.
